ExperienceI have chosen to pursue Education as my career path, and although I have significant experience teaching students of all types, I am constantly looking for ways to improve my technique through tutoring. My first degree, which I obtained from Goucher College, was a BA in English with a focus in Secondary Education and Writing. It was during my time at this university that I accumulated a wealth of experience tutoring, serving at the university's Writing Center as a tutor after receiving an honorable nomination from the English Department to do so. It is true that people learn by teaching, and I was able to refine my own writing skills while tutoring my fellow students. I have been an active writer since I was quite young, and won the esteemed Isabelle Kellogg Thomas Prize for outstanding achievement in the fields of English and Creative Writing in my sophomore year. Today, I teach aspiring writers of the same age in English classes across Maryland, and have taught English to grades 9 through 11, as I hold a certification in Secondary English Education. I have also tutored many students that have learning differences such as dyslexia and autism, and I am well-versed in specialized Lindamood-Bell methodology.
